Nose: Floral, lime, yellow fruits , minerals, Kelp, Umami. On the mouth there is an intense sensation of saltiness with hints of lime and peach coming through.
The 2023 Vloedvlak is a 100% Colombar wine from a old vine vineyard planted in 1978 on the banks of the mighty Olifants River. The Vineyard is located about 25 kilometres from the Atlantic Ocean.
Grapes were picked early in the morning to preserve freshness, then cooled down before being pressed the next morning.
Whole bunch pressing was done without the addition of any enzymes, then left overnight to settle in a stainless steel tank, before being racked to another stainless steel tank for natural fermentation to commence.
The last bit of Fermentation took place in 228 liter barrels where the wine was aged for 5 months on its gross lees, with 2 months of battonage.
Bottled with the addition of a little sulphur, unfined and unfiltered.
